OUR JOURNEY THROUGH

GREAT SOUTHERN WINE REGION

July 31, 2018

On Saturday 28 July, close to 30 guests attended an exciting dinner where we paired cool-climate Great Southern wines with signature Sze Chuan and Cantonese dishes from the famed Si Chuan Dou Huat restaurant at Parkroyal on Kitchener Road.

It was an evening of story-telling from experiences on the vineyard, interesting pairings, new friendships, and certainly, lots of laughters! We also had the pleasure of Executive Chef Leung Wing Chung personally presenting the dishes to us and the opportunity to share our delight and feedback directly to him.

Hope you all enjoyed the wine dinner and do let me know if you have any restaurants or cuisines you'd like to propose. In the meantime, stay tuned to our next event!

On Saturday 28 July, the ultimate wine pairing dinner will take place at Si Chuan Dou Hua, Parkroyal on Kitchener Road.

I will be pairing my beloved Great Southern wines with several signature dishes from this very well-known Sze Chuan restaurant and, together with you, experience how different flavors from both the wine and the food come together in harmony or perhaps in strong disagreement!

We've paired Great Southern wines with Aussie, Cantonese and French cuisines and Japanese omakase before and this will be the most audacious pairing yet!

Dinner details are below. Please email info@wineedens.com for more details and to reserve a place at this limited seating dinner!

On Wednesday 13 June 2018, we hosted more than 20 guests at Winederlust, one of Singapore's newest wine bistro, for a Poacher's Ridge Wine Dinner, showcasing a vertical tasting of the estate's Rieslings and Merlots.

On Wednesday 13th June, I will be showcasing Poacher's Ridge estate at Winederlust Wine Bistro. To mix things up a little, you will get to experience a vertical tasting of Riesling and Merlot. These 2 grape varietals are stand-out performers from this single vineyard family estate, in addition to their beautiful cool-climate Shiraz and the lesser-known Marsanne.

Poacher's Ridge was founded in 1999 by loving couple Alex and Janet Taylor, and with the support of their fiercely loyal sons Marcus and Andrew, painstakingly built the vineyard from scratch, upon identifying the location's immense potential. Marcus still fondly remembers helping Dad till the soil as a teenager!

The estate is located in the outskirts of a very small town, Narrikup, and the town itself is approximately halfway between Mount Barker and Albany. Although seemingly a "small patch of dirt" set in a rural Western Australia setting, I'...

When I first discovered the Great Southern wine region, it was promoted to me as one producing exceptional Rieslings - which is true. At the same time, I have the impression that this Riesling positioning is driven by the intention of having a grape varietal that distinguishes the region from others. In other words, an added marketing dimension.

As I further my exploration of the region, I grew to particularly enjoy the Pinot Noir. The cool climate conditions favor the development of a stunning but difficult grape. Furthermore, the micro-terroir environments in each sub-region and the varied winemaking styles contribute to an endless process of amazement. Although the fresh, elegant commonality of Great Southern wines remain, every Pinot is unabashed in showing you its unique identity. Your palate just never gets bored with every single Pinot tasted.

It was therefore a wonderful opportunity to put together and taste 6 Pinots from some of the very best estates of the Great...

The Dyslexia Association of Singapore (DAS) will be holding a Charity Golf and Dinner event at Tanah Merah Country Club on 23 May 2018, to raise much-needed funds for children with dyslexia from low-income families so that they can receive the education they deserve. More than 50% of our students receive a bursary and DAS needs to raise more than $1 million annually to support these children.

The Charity Golf and Dinner Event will be attended by Guest of Honour Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) and Second Minister for Defence.

Wine Edens and the estates we represent are really excited to do our part for this great cause by putting up 4 truly exceptional museum collection wines for auction during the dinner. These wines are sourced directly from the personal cellars of the winemakers and principals during my recent trip to the Great Southern, hold deep personal meaning to them for many reasons and are no longer for sale in t...

March 13, 2018

March is a fabulous time to visit the Great Southern!

The weather is beautiful, with the temperature ranging from a relaxed 24 degrees in the day to a cool 16 degrees in the night. The vineyard is a lush green, turning into a romantic autumn gold as soon as the grapes are harvested. The Taste Great Southern festival is in full swing, bringing together the region's finest local produce - oysters, meat, vegetables, cheese - and exceptional cool climate wines together at events hosted by domestic and international celebrity chefs! There's really no better time to visit the Great Southern than March!

I traveled to the Great Southern to join in the harvest activities at the vineyard and winery, participate in the Rockcliffe Night Market (one of the headline events of Taste Great Southern) and of course, to visit some awesome friends. This was my 5th visit to the Great Southern but whilst I'm more familiar with the roads, the sights and experiences continue to surprise and amaze!
